Dear Family of St John’s
As I sit in my office writing this letter, our church complex is BUZZING with activity! Everyone is working hard to get everything ready for the fete. We have some of our staff wearing their ‘Mad Hatter’s Hats’ in preparation for serving in the tea garden on Saturday.
Our Annual Mission Fête has long been a highlight in the life of our parish, as we gather in fellowship, enjoy wonderful food and bargains, and – most importantly – raise funds in support of our missionaries in Egypt, Pakistan, Lesotho and Sudan.
There will be something for everyone! Come and enjoy bacon & eggs rolls, boerewors rolls, curry & rice, vetkoek filled with curry mince, pancakes, and cakes. Relax in the whimsical Mad Hatter’s Tea Garden, or browse the many stalls: Books, Art, Antiques & Treasures, White Elephant, Plants, Preserves & Fresh Produce, Home Décor, Centre of Concern and much more. For the little ones, the Fun Kidz Zone with its jumping castle will be sure to delight.
Our annual fête is more than just a day of fun – it is a tradition that has helped St John’s faithfully support the work of mission for many years. As Jesus reminds us, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). By sharing in this event, you are helping to extend Christ’s love and hope across the world.
Bring your family, bring your friends, and join us in making this year’s Mission Fête a joyful success. Together, let’s continue to strengthen our commitment to God’s mission and to those serving so far away.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Your friend and rector,
Claire
